An Instagram and TikTok influencer known for car content live-streamed his death by suicide during a police standoff.
Angel Hernandez Grado, known to his 58,000 Instagram followers as S2K Wya, was accused by his 25-year-old girlfriend of holding her captive for two days, according to the Daily Mail. During that time, she told San Diego Police Department (SDPD) officers that he "hit her in the head with an ax, strangled her, tied her up inside his apartment, and sexually
assaulted her," according to a press release the SDPD sent the Daily Dot.
The police statement said that she escaped Grado’s apartment, where she was allegedly being held, on May 25 and sought help from neighbors, who, in turn, called the police. He allegedly told her he was going to purchase a gun and that he would kill her if she called the police on him.
An hours-long standoff with law enforcement reportedly ensued the following day, on May 26, after officers spotted him driving on the highway and tried pulling him over. He allegedly refused to "comply," prompting police to use spike strips to stop his vehicle, according to the statement. Grado reportedly began his live stream on Instagram after his tires were spiked.
Aerial footage obtained by ABC7 shows dozens of law enforcement vehicles surrounding the 28-year-old’s BMW.
"An SDPD officer was on the phone with the suspect who refused to surrender, saying he had a gun," police said in the statement. "Officers negotiated with him for about an hour and tried to convince him to surrender."
In his live stream, he is holding a gun and crying.
He points his gun to his head and says he loves his son, an infant he shares with the 25-year-old he is accused of abusing. He, according to the Daily Mail, also posted a photo of himself with his son to Instagram. Viewers on the live stream commented on the photo at the time, urging him not to hurt himself. “Hang in there for your son!” one comment reads.
In the stream, he also tells viewers he loves them and that he’s sorry.
“I am not weak. I just fucking hate my life, bro. I’m just tired of this fucking life; fuck the police. I’ll fucking die before they shoot me down,” he says in the stream.
He reportedly shot himself in the head and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The 25-year-old woman who accused him of abuse was also taken to the hospital. She, according to the SDPD statement, "suffered two broken ribs, swelling to her face, and bruises all over her body."
