Marjorie Taylor Greene won’t stop making COVID-Holocaust comparisons, finally gets GOP condemnation

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) won't stop comparing coronavirus vaccinations and mask mandates to the Holocaust, and Republicans are finally beginning to condemn her for it.

Greene doubled down on the rhetoric in a tweet on Tuesday, days after she first compared Jewish people being forced to wear gold stars by Nazis during the Holocaust as "exactly the type of abuse" as a mask mandate in the House of Representatives.

The remarks, which she made during an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, drew widespread criticism.

But the Georgia lawmaker—who is well-known for her conspiratorial views—apparently isn't done with her comparisons.

On Tuesday, Greene tweeted: "Vaccinated employees get a vaccination logo just like the Nazis forced Jewish people to wear a gold star. Vaccine passports & mask mandates create discrimination against unvaxxed people who trust their immune systems to a virus that is 99% survivable."

In the tweet, the Georgia lawmaker linked to a local news story from Tennessee that noted a grocery store is having employees who have been fully vaccinated wear a logo on their name badge as they allow customers who have been fully vaccinated to shop without masks.

The latest comparison to the the Holocaust apparently was where Republican leadership was drawing a line.

House Republican Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) released a statement on Tuesday where he called Greene's remarks "wrong."

"Marjorie is wrong, and her intentional decision to compare the horrors of the Holocaust with wearing masks is appalling," McCarthy said. "The Holocaust is the greatest atrocity committed in history. The fact that this needs to be stated today is deeply troubling."

Besides McCarthy, a number of other members of Congress also condemned Greene's remarks.
