Make your own CBD edibles with this culinary-grade powder

I've been a fan of CBD for quite some time, so when Caliper CBD reached out to invite me to test its culinary-grade CBD powder, obviously I said yes. Before now, I had never heard of (let alone tried) CBD powder. And for what it's worth, this is a total gamechanger! Frankly, more people should be talking about this. But since they're not...I will!

How is Caliper's culinary-grade CBD powder different from other forms of CBD?

Caliper CBD is a vegan and gluten-free dissolvable powder designed by food scientists and culinary experts. It's most comparable to a CBD tincture. So instead of pouring a liquid into your mouth, you can dissolve Caliper's CBD powder in any liquid or food dish. This will transform any store-bought or homemade item into a tasty and relaxing THC-free CBD edible.

Caliper also designed its on-the-go Swiftsticks to be "dry scooped." This means you pour the powder directly onto your tongue. And yes, I know how unappetizing that sounds but trust me, the flavors are good. For those of you that care about this kind of stuff, Caliper never uses artificial flavors and its products are all zero calories. I've tried the Mixed Berry, Lemon Lime, and Cool Mint flavors and was pleasantly surprised by all of them. There are no hempy or distorted flavors, so what you see is what you get. Which is something I can't always say about all sublingual tinctures or oils! The consistency is sort of like pouring a bag of Fun Dip into your mouth. So if you enjoy that, you'll likely be unphased by the CBD powder.

But that isn't even Caliper's defining trait. Here's where things get really neat: since you're ingesting a powder form of the supplement it reaches a ton of surface area. Add onto that the fact that your body doesn't have to break down the chemical structure of oil to process the CBD either and you're left with speedy absorption and fast-acting effects. Caliper CBD also third-party tests all of its products. So you can rest assured that all you're ingesting is THC-free, non-psychoactive Cannabidiol, and nothing questionable.

What is Caliper CBD used for?

Like all other CBD products, Caliper's can be used for a variety of different reasons. Whether it's promoting relaxation, trying to get a better night's sleep, or relieving discomfort caused by inflammation, Caliper's CBD is up for the gig.

The Swiftsticks weigh in at 20mg of CBD per stick, which is a little more than I usually take to just unwind. So I started off with just half a Swiftstick and recommend that beginners do the same. Of course, all bodies and their reactions to things like CBD will be different. So finding your perfect dose can only be achieved through the power of trial and error.

Caliper's CBD dissolvable powder also weighs in at 20mg of CBD per dose. So if you've never used CBD products before, again, I wouldn't go taking a full dose of this stuff unless you're trying to sleep for 8 to 12 hours. 20mg per dissolvable packet may not sound like a lot of CBD, but trust me, you will knock out. That said, if you're taking CBD to help you get a more restful night's sleep, throw some dissolvable CBD powder into your sleepytime tea. Just remember, you need to give yourself ample time to sleep it off. CBD can help improve your quality of sleep, but it can't give you more hours!

And I know you didn't ask, but if you want to make your own CBD treats (or maybe weed edibles that are high in CBD), this is how you should do it. Who needs a fancy infusion machine when you could just add Caliper's CBD powder to literally any recipe? Adjusting the potency is simple, it all depends on your preferred dosage. For larger recipes or more potent serving sizes, add more packets. For the opposite effect, add fewer CBD powder packets. Whatever you do, don't go drugging your dinner guests without their permission!

Caliper CBD dissolvable powder review: The verdict

I'm going to be real honest here. At first, I was hesitant to try CBD powder because who wants to pour a packet of dust into their mouth? But Caliper isn't fibbing when it says its products are culinary-grade. The Swiftsticks taste great, helped me feel more zen, and didn't have me choking like the Cinnamon Challenge once did.

I was also fairly impressed by the performance of Caliper's dissolvable CBD powder. I tested it using a box of Annie's Mac and Cheese (please don't come for me, I'm lazy when it comes to lunch) and it didn't clump or congeal. Then, just to make sure that it wasn't a fluke, I added it to my herbal tea. And again, nothing funky! It actually feels pretty darn neat being able to turn any meal or beverage into a CBD supplement.

The only bone to pick I have with Caliper is its buying options. As it stands, the company only offers two ways of purchasing the products. Shoppers can either buy a 30-pack or 60-pack of the Swiftsticks or dissolvable CBD powder for $49.99-$84. Buyers will also be presented with the option to save 10% when they subscribe. Subscriptions can be paused or canceled easily and at any time. While the pricing is on par with competitors, buying so much CBD without being able to test it out for yourself first is rough. That said, Caliper will gladly refund you if you don't like its products and you haven't used more than three packets (you do have to cover the shipping, though).

Where can I find Caliper CBD?

Anyone over the age of 21 can purchase Caliper CBD products directly through the company's website at www.trycaliper.com. You can also check in with your local CBD or natural supplement food stores to see if they have any in stock. As always, before adding any new supplements to your diet, please confer with your doctor. CBD isn't for everyone, and it can interfere with certain medications. Only your trusted health professional will be able to safely advise you.
